Alice Lamont (she/her) is a Melbourne (Naarm)-based painter whose practice draws on classical techniques, with a focus on portraiture. Introduced to oil painting by her father, a figurative artist, from an early age, her passion for figuration has been a lifelong journey. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2020, specializing in painting, where she honed her skills through rigorous life drawing sessions. Further deepening her understanding of the human form, Alice pursued a Master’s degree in nursing, and her expertise as a Registered Nurse is reflected in the anatomical precision and delicate colour work in her art.

Alice’s work delves into themes of intimacy, commemoration, longing, family, and Sapphism. Her portraits are rich with emotional resonance, capturing fleeting moments of connection and the haunting beauty of memory. Through her art, she conveys the subtle intricacies of relationships—whether in a quiet glance or a tender embrace—inviting viewers to explore the universal experiences of love, loss, and desire. Alice’s paintings are both deeply personal and commemorative, blending storytelling with the intimate moments that define us.

Drawing on her training as a Registered Nurse, Alice brings a unique anatomical precision to her work, where the intricacies of the human body meet the subtleties of emotion.
